Black Friday kicked off the holiday season and results show that eCommerce sales are going to have a banner year.
ComScore reported that "57 million Americans visited online retail sites on Black Friday", resulting in $1.042 billion in online sales, "representing a 26-percent increase versus Black Friday 2011". And, Cyber Monday recorded $1.46 billion in sales, representing a 17% increase as compared to Cyber Monday 2011.
Guidance clients also recorded great success during the Thanksgiving weekend:
"We had a 20% increase in Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales YoY for our 3rd consecutive year. The post-Thanksgiving to Holiday period is always our busiest time of year and it's reassuring to know that our website and servers, managed by Guidance, can handle the increased load - allowing us to focus our time and energy on our holiday marketing and fulfillment. We also saw a large spike in transactions via mobile for the first time, since launching our mobile eCommerce websites at the beginning of the year."
