This week’s featured employee is Robert, one of our PHP Tech Leads and a long-time member of the Guidance family ... just not as an employee. Robert's sense of humor can turn any simple moment into a laugh fest. We don't think he should ever quit programming, but if he does so one day, we strongly suggest a future in comedy. We asked Robert to answer a few questions for us, here is what he said:
What’s your title?
Web Developer/Technical Lead
How long have you been at Guidance?
I've been working at Guidance full time for a month now, but I have worked as a contractor since 2006.
Tell us about your hometown.
I grew up in Los Angeles, world-famous home of sun, stars, and smog.
What city do you currently live in?
I currently live in the South Bay, where I can enjoy the benefits of being near the beach without actually being on the beach.
How did you decide on this career?
I got hooked on computer programming at a very early age, and have yet to find a reason to stop enjoying it.
What was the oddest job you ever held?
I once spent nine hours sitting under a tree in a public park, guarding a 30-pound military radio and writing down the messages I received every five minutes.
What do you like most about working at Guidance?
The friendly atmosphere and the opportunity to use innovative new Internet technologies to satisfy clients.
What are you currently working on?
My primary tasks at the moment involve developing the technical architecture for an upcoming emergency information service, along with redesigning and redeveloping the web site for a national retailer of therapeutic products. I also help out with various other Guidance clients, including one of the world's largest food manufacturers and an international footwear retailer and wholesaler.
