This week's Featured Employee is Kevin, who heads our Operations team. Kevin's first day at Guidance was Halloween Day 2007. His costume? Police officer. We immediately knew we hired a good one! We asked Kevin to answer a few questions for us, check them out:
What’s your title?
Managing Director, Operations & Solutions Delivery
How long have you been at Guidance?
It’ll be 3 years in October.
Tell us about your hometown.
We are sitting in it. I am actually a native Angelino, which is a bit unusual for this part of town and industry. I was born and raised less than 6 miles from the office. I went to High School near Downtown LA (Loyola High School) and then to college just up the hill on the bluff overlooking Playa del Rey (Loyola Marymount). I haven't strayed far, and with the beach, sun and surf, can you blame me?
What city do you currently live in?
West Los Angeles.
How did you decide on this career?
Although I majored in Business Administration at LMU, I jumped at the chance to work with a large services/consulting organization even though the career path was Technology. During the early stages of my career I was programming applications and writing code day to day. However, one day I had an epiphany. I realized that I had a better connection with people and communicating with others as I did trying to communicate with the visual basic code and application I was writing at the time. From that day forward, I decided to change my career path, jump into project management and stay with my original passion of business administration and management. It turned out to be the best decision I could make, and I found myself working with people, identifying and creating process and tools for our organizations to succeed.
What was the oddest job you ever held?
I was working maintenance and cleaning a fraternity house over a summer when I was 18. I can’t even describe to you the things I found and saw at that house. Oh boy.
What do you like most about working at Guidance?
I love the people. The clients we interact with, the flexibility of the company, the aura around the office are all great, but the people we have make this place truly special.
