This week's Featured Employee is Kam, one of our Senior Software Developers. Kam has been with us for just a few months but he sure is part of the Guidance family! We asked Kam to answer a few questions for us, check them out:
What’s your title?
Senior Software Developer
How long have you been at Guidance?
Tell us about your hometown.
I grew up in a small town called Waikoloa on the Big Island of Hawaii. It was easily the best place to spend your childhood. The weather was always nice and we lived just 15 minutes from some of the best beaches in the world. It was the kind of town where everyone knew each other and locking your door at night was something out of the ordinary.
What city do you currently live in?
Beverly Hills, California
How did you decide on this career?
My dad purchased an old Amiga computer for me when I was 8 years old and that got me hooked. Choosing computer science as my major in university was an easy choice.
What was the oddest job you ever held?
Luckily (or not, depending on who’s opinion it is), I’ve never had an odd or weird job. However, the worst job I had was in high school when I helped a friend paint houses. It wouldn’t have been so bad except that a) we had to climb 3 stories on a wooden ladder using old paint brushes instead of rollers, which took forever to paint in the hot sun and b) he didn’t have enough money at the end of the week to pay me.
What do you like most about working at Guidance?
The people definitely make this place what it is. Everyone is very good and experienced in what they do and there’s always a positive atmosphere in the office.
