This week’s featured employee is Jeremy, who works on our Magento and Drupal projects as part of our PHP team. Despite his knack for PHP programming and expertise in Web development, Jeremy's original career plans had little to do with our industry. He is a classically-trained musician and can play a mean cello (watch out, Yo-Yo Ma!). We asked Jeremy to answer a few questions for us, here is what he said:
What’s your title?
How long have you been at Guidance?
I have been with Guidance 2 days short of 2 months.
Tell us about your hometown.
My hometown is Roswell, New Mexico. More or less, it is a small farming town, about 40,000 people. Not much really goes on, other than a few alien sightings every now and then.
What city do you currently live in?
I currently live in the fabulous city of Los Angeles Brentwood neighborhood.
How did you decide on this career?
Programming/Information Architecture comes easily to me. They say, do what you are best at.
What was the oddest job you ever held?
I really don't have an oddest job. 95.2% of all my jobs have been in the software development field. During summer vacations from college, I did spend quite a bit of time bailing hay. But nothing too odd about that.
What do you like most about working at Guidance?
I really enjoy the atmosphere and my fellow developers.
What are you currently working on?
I am working on the new site for a leading manufacturer of interior and exterior residential paint. The site is being built on Magento Enterprise and I am currently working on the site's payment gateway integrations.
