This week’s featured employee is Jason (yes, another Jason!), one of our Senior Associates who works with our PHP/Magento/Drupal team. If you keep on reading, you'll find out that Jason's " oddest job ever held" is probably the coolest anyone has shared with us on the "Featured Employee" column. We asked Jason to answer a few questions for us, here’s what he said:
What’s your title?
How long have you been at Guidance?
I started as a contractor last October, and joined the team as a full-time employee in January of this year - so in total, about 7 months.
Tell us about your hometown.
I'm originally from Mt Clemens, MI, about 20 mins north east of Detroit.
What city do you currently live in?
I now live in Downtown L.A.
How did you decide on this career?
It's been kind of a long process, actually. My first college experience was at an Art School where I majored in Contemporary Craft/Industrial Design. Before finishing the program, I moved to San Francisco and started a career as an Artist. I noticed however that most of my projects required a lot of technical knowledge of programming and electronics. I then decided to finish my degree as a Science major. During my studies I became fascinated with programming, and that's when I decided to start a career in the field.
What was the oddest job you ever held?
I was a production balloon artist for a company called "The Balloon Lady" in San Francisco. I was in charge of producing large scale balloon arches (the largest was around 300 feet), and a variety of balloon sculptures. One of these sculptures was a 60-foot dragon.
What do you like most about working at Guidance?
I really enjoy the culture at Guidance. That, and the great co-workers.
