This week’s featured employee is Dave, our Database expert and one of our oldest employees -- not in age, though. An avid photographer, you are likely to find Dave at Sammy's Camera on the weekends or browsing for Canon-related content on the Web during his spare time. We asked Dave to answer a few questions for us, here’s what he said:
What’s your title?
Managing Director (Database Technologies)
How long have you been at Guidance?
Over 13 years. (Editor's Note: WOW!)
Tell us about your hometown.
I'm a SoCal native from West L.A. Never a rainy day in Southern California ... days at the beach ... perfect for TVS - Tan, Volleyball and Skateboarding.
What city do you currently live in?
I live in El Segundo, which reminds me a bit of Mayberry, maybe even the Midwest, as portrayed on Little House on the Prairie.
How did you decide on this career?
I've always had a knack for computers. Before working at Guidance, I used to play beach volleyball and, through contacts on the beach, I found out about Guidance and got hired during the dot-com era. I started out as a Programmer and Systems Admin. After working closely with the Database Manager at that time, I decided to join the team and, well ... c'est la vie!
What was the oddest job you ever held?
Luckily, I never had an 'odd' job. I was an athlete most of my life before joining the workforce. During volleyball's off season, I worked in property management, which is anything but odd...
What do you like most about working at Guidance?
This place hires some of the best people I've ever met. I really enjoy working with them.
What are you currently working on?
I am working with our .NET team on an International Microsoft Commerce Server site and its expansion to several new countries, languages and currencies.
