Meet Amy – This Week’s Featured Employee

July 15, 2011

This week’s featured employee is Amy, who is a member of the Guidance Project Management team. Amy is from the land of Dorothy (Kansas) and has lived a fascinating life that has taken her through many paths – from Pilates instructor to school teacher, to Marketing and Communications, and finally, to Project Management. We asked Amy to answer a few questions for us, here is what she said:
What’s your title?
Project Manager

How long have you been at Guidance?
It actually feels longer than what it really is, so I always say “since my last job.” :)

Tell us about your hometown.
I was born and raised in Wichita, Kansas, which is the largest city in the state and is known as the “Air Capital of the World”. Clyde Cessna, Walter Beech and Bill Lear began aviation projects in the 20th century that led to Wichita's nickname.

What city do you currently live in?
I traded wheat fields for sandy beaches and now live in Santa Monica, CA.

How did you decide on this career?
My major in college was Mass Communications with a minor in Political Science, so I’ve always been in the marketing/advertising fields. When digital began to emerge, I started working on digital projects, and have been working in this field ever since.

What was the oddest job you ever held?
I’m not sure it would be considered odd, but my experience as a pre-school teacher many years ago taught me how to play well with others.

What do you like most about working at Guidance?
I really like the people and passion at Guidance.

What are you currently working on?
I am currently working on a site replatform for a nationwide retailer that provides discounted designer and name-brand merchandise. The site is being built on Mediachase eCommerce Framework (ECF).
