Invensys (Wonderware) used Lotus Notes/Domino for internal workflow applications and to support content publication on Internet and Extranet sites. Wonderware has an extensive direct/indirect sales network including worldwide distributors / systems integrators. This group, as well as internal sales people, had relied on an extranet, Team Wonderware, as a crucial portal for all the information they needed to sell Wonderware products. However, Wonderware wanted to standardize on Microsoft technologies to decrease development expense and improve content management processes.
Guidance replaced Domino with a connected productivity solution based on Microsoft Windows Server System integrated server software. The solution entailed using Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server for content collaboration and support for the extranet, with Microsoft Content Management Server as a publication tool for content that needed to be on the public websites. With a custom connector between them, Wonderware achieved a create-once, post-many capability for their extensive content. Guidance also used Casahl’s ecKnowledge to migrate the existing data from Domino to SharePoint.
