Meet Jason -- This Week's Featured Employee

January 28, 2011

This week’s featured employee is one of our three Jasons – Jason Loo. Jason has been with Guidance since 1998, but in late 2007, he traded sunny L.A. for the Live Music Capital of the World, good ol' Austin, Texas. Jason has played a key role in managing one of Guidance's oldest and most cherished accounts. We asked Jason to answer a few questions for us, here's what he said:

What’s your title?
Vice President

How long have you been at Guidance?
I hired into Guidance fresh out of college in July 1998.

Tell us about your hometown.
I was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and was relocated to Santa Cruz, California when I was five years old. Santa Cruz is best known for its surfing, university, beach boardwalk and progressive politics.

What city do you currently live in?
Austin, Texas

How did you decide on this career?
I was blinded by the (lime)light. In 1996, I took a part-time job working for former Guidance CEO Robert Landes who was then at CelebritySightings.com – a site profiling young celebrities such as Jonathan Taylor Thomas (Home Improvement), Danielle Fishel (Boy Meets World,), Jessica Biel (7th Heaven) and Larisa Oleynik (3rd Rock from the Sun) – doing data entry, which later turned into an IT Support and Web Application Development job. The launch party in December 1996 in the parking lot of 901 Abbot Kinney (a trendy location in artsy Venice, California) was a fanfare event, firmly implanting the idea that as a geek, I’d be mingling with the stars for the remainder of my career.

What was the oddest job you ever held?
How about the coolest? While moonlighting with Sony Connect, I worked The Jimmy Kimmel Show and the Tsunami Aid Concert, preparing the musical performances for sale through Connect.com, allowing me an opportunity to shake the hand of Lenny Kravitz, Josh Groban, Adam Levine, John Mayer and several other major celebrities – they’ll remember me, right?

What do you like most about working at Guidance?
The thoughtfulness. Guidance is amazingly aware and sensitive to the fact that life happens – so if someone needs to be unavailable (for whatever the reason), we all chip in to lend a helping hand, and you might even get a gift basket on top of that!

What are you currently working on?
Currently, I am working with the client and my teammates to ready a new mobile solution for production within the next 30-days!!! Now, I need to get back to it…

Here’s a picture of Jason!
Unfortunately, we couldn’t fly out to Austin, TX in time to record Jason’s video for today’s column, so we chose instead to show his Guidance profile picture … here’s Jason!
