Meet Jason -- This Week's Featured Employee

May 6, 2011

This week’s featured employee is Jason (yes, another Jason!), one of our Senior Associates who works with our PHP/Magento/Drupal team. If you keep on reading, you'll find out that Jason's "oddest job ever held" is probably the coolest anyone has shared with us on the "Featured Employee" column. We asked Jason to answer a few questions for us, here’s what he said:

What’s your title?
Senior Associate

How long have you been at Guidance?
I started as a contractor last October, and joined the team as a full-time employee in January of this year - so in total, about 7 months.

Tell us about your hometown.
I'm originally from Mt Clemens, MI, about 20 mins north east of Detroit.

What city do you currently live in?
I now live in Downtown L.A.

How did you decide on this career?
It's been kind of a long process, actually. My first college experience was at an Art School where I majored in Contemporary Craft/Industrial Design. Before finishing the program, I moved to San Francisco and started a career as an Artist. I noticed however that most of my projects required a lot of technical knowledge of programming and electronics. I then decided to finish my degree as a Science major. During my studies I became fascinated with programming, and that's when I decided to start a career in the field.

What was the oddest job you ever held?
I was a production balloon artist for a company called "The Balloon Lady" in San Francisco. I was in charge of producing large scale balloon arches (the largest was around 300 feet), and a variety of balloon sculptures. One of these sculptures was a 60-foot dragon.

What do you like most about working at Guidance?
I really enjoy the culture at Guidance. That, and the great co-workers.

What are you currently working on?
